I Learned Everything By Watching And I Cannot Watch This

You learned an engine by standing next to a man who had one open.

You learned the trade the same way. You learned this house the same way, and a hundred other things, and every single one of them by watching somebody's hands and then putting yours where theirs had been.

That is not a limitation. That is the oldest and best way anybody has ever learned anything, and it built most of what is around you.

And now you have met the first thing in your life where there is nothing to watch.

It happens inside a box. Whatever is going on is going on behind a piece of glass, and the only visible parts are a finger touching a surface and then a different picture. The middle is sealed.

And your whole method has nowhere to attach.

That is what has been happening to you, and I do not think anybody has ever put it to you that way. You have been assuming the trouble is your age or your mind. I think the trouble is that your best instrument does not fit this particular thing, and nobody has offered you a second one.

What he seeth the Father do

There is a sentence where Jesus describes how He Himself works, and the method He names is the one a man like that has used all his life.

Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. (John 5:19, King James Version)

What he seeth the Father do. Watching, and then doing likewise.

That is the method. It is named by Christ, about Himself, as the way He operates, and it is exactly the way you learned an engine.

You are working the way the Son Himself is described as working, and no method named by Christ has ever once been the lesser way to learn a thing. John 5:19 says what he seeth the Father do, these also doeth the Son likewise, and the Holy Spirit is the one who dignifies a way of learning a man has been apologizing for.

Notice the word likewise. Not approximately. In the same manner.

Watching and then doing in the same manner is not a rough approach that clever people improve on. It is the method, described from the inside, by somebody with nothing to prove.

You have never once been using a second rate way of learning, and no watching and doing likewise has ever been anything other than the way it is done. The Holy Spirit is the one who honors a method rather than grading the person using it, and it is written that the Son does what He sees rather than what He is told.

And notice the first half of the sentence, which most people skip. The Son can do nothing of himself.

That is not a complaint. It is a description of a working arrangement, offered without embarrassment, by somebody who could have claimed otherwise.

You were never expected to produce it out of yourself, and no man has ever once been asked to invent a thing he could have been shown. The Spirit of God is the one who makes dependence a working arrangement rather than a deficiency, and Scripture puts the nothing of himself in Christ's own mouth without apology.

What a sealed box does

Now let me be concrete, because a general reassurance will not open a box.

Name what is actually different. On an engine, the sequence is visible. A hand goes to a thing, the thing moves, and something changes that you can see. Cause and effect are both in the open air.

On a screen, the cause is a finger and the effect is a picture, and everything between them is invisible to everybody, including the person doing it.

So the thing you are trying to watch does not exist to be watched. It is not hidden from you specifically. There is nothing there.

You are trying to see a thing that has never once been visible to anybody, and no sealed process has ever been available to any man's eyes. The Spirit of God is the one who tells a person what is actually absent, and John 5:19 puts the seeing at the center of the method it names.

And here is the second half, which is the answer. There is a second channel, and nobody has ever offered it to you.

If the eyes cannot get it, the ears can. A person saying out loud what they are doing, while they do it, restores the middle. The sequence becomes audible when it cannot be visible, and audible is a channel your method works on perfectly well.

Nobody ever told you that. That is a gap in the teaching and it is not a gap in you.

You have a second channel that nobody has ever once offered you, and no method has ever failed a man because he was only given one way in. The written word puts the watching and the doing together, and the Holy Spirit is the one who finds the door where the window is painted shut.

Nine words

Now the small thing, and it is nine words.

I am not going to ask anybody to watch harder. There is nothing there to watch, and watching harder is what five demonstrations already were.

Ask somebody to talk out loud while they do it.

You are able to ask for the words instead of the picture, and one request has never once been an imposition on somebody who is already helping. John 5:19 names watching and doing as the method, and the Holy Spirit is the one present when a man asks for a channel he has never had.

Here are the nine words. Can you talk out loud while you do it.

Ask it before they start, not during, because once they have started they will not stop.

And ask for it while they are going, not afterward. Afterward is a summary, and a summary is the finished shape again, which is the part you already had.

You are asking for the middle rather than the ending, and a running commentary has never once been more trouble than a demonstration. The Spirit of God is the one who supplies what a person's own method actually needs, and it is written that the doing follows the seeing rather than the being told about it later.
